At some point in this inevitable morphing into a legitimate national championship post season I'd love to see the governing body of the sport administer the event which would give a better chance for inclusiveness. Probably will never happen.

Sounds good...but I'm not sure I agree with his premise: that interest in non-playoff bowls will wane. Most of them did quite well this year. Bowl pools are growing in popularity....
I hope we go to 8, but I don't think it will happen for THAT reason.

How much fun would ON CAMPUS playoff games be? Neutral sites just seem bland and take away from the atmosphere. If we could replace the CCG's in early December with four PLAYOFF QUARTER-FINAL games on campus? You could get Florida playing AT Michigan in the snow, Southern Cal going to Baton Rouge, etc.

Home field games are the norm, up to the championship game, for high school, college (except FBS) and NFL playoffs.

HS playoffs, at least at the quarter-final level and up are at neutral sites. In Dallas, Austin, Houston, or San Antonio.

Aha. Texas is a partial exception to the norm.

The NCAA is inept in lots of things (especially Academic integrity ) but for national championships..it does that fairly well. Now, Hero, tell me... are Alabama 's NCAA National Championships in Golf, Gymnastics and Softball "inept" or based on ineptness ?

Mandel is right, but he didn't go far enough. Eventually, there probably will be an 8-team playoff. It might take 10 or more years.
After that, inevitably there will be a demand for a 16-team playoff. When the demand reaches a critical point, the "power" conferences will have to either cave or leave the NCAA. On decision day, what the small minds will do is anybody's guess.

That said, my opinion doesn't justify the ineptitude of the organization. It also doesn't explain your, for lack of a better word, strange devotion to it.

I despise it's fraudulent academic approach. We're talking sports championships, Hero. I'm 1000% convinced that NCAA sports championships are more fair and better than Cartel style FB championships. See if you can 'get' that.

It seems that those complaining the most about the NCAA are associated with schools which benefit, to the detriment of other schools, from preferential treatment accorded by the NCAA.
From my observations, the NCAA's administration of championships has, by and large, been well accepted.
OTOH, the BCS and CFP have been subject to widespread and continuing criticism, and have been compelled by public pressure to make major changes on a going basis.
