Yep, Tyreke Hill was the guy who scored close to 60 points on a Sunday night game - I thought I was in the clear and he had 40 points by halftime.

Derrick Henry broke the 2000 yard rushing barrier. I love to watch him run. I have followed him since high school when he broke Ken Hall’s rushing record. Going to Alabama was icing on the cake for me. A happy day. He's unbelievable. I had him on my fantasy team and he's been a scoring machine. Unfortunately my other Alabama player, Julio Jones, had a rough season and he was my top receiver. So, i think I finished in last place this year even though I had the top scoring player in our league. I also had Lamaar Jackson who didn't suck. It seemed every week whoever I was playing, they would have a player go nuts and actually trump Henry - one week that receiver from KC scored close to 60 points - just wasn't my year. But to your point, Henry is a force.

It was originally shoulder to shoulder, as Fields was turning his shoulder to take the impact , his body rolled . If fields had gotten up right away, probably never gets a review. We’ll see it the way we want to see it but in my view he drilled his helmet right into the guy. And since you mention it, if Lawrence hadn’t rolled around on the ground last year that one may not have been called either. This was worse in my opinion but both were penalties, as the rule is interpreted.

Not sure if anything was fair this year. I get all points. I wish OSU would have been able to at least play their 8 conference games; if they had they’d be 10-0 right now. But we all know that didn’t happen. The committee was supposed to pick the top 4 teams and I think OSU proved they belong. They missed out several years at #5 and I accepted and agreed with the reasoning. No team should apologize for being where they are this year...except maybe Michigan😉.

The problem that I have is that there is a clear bias by the committee. There is no way Cincinnati should have been behind a 3 loss Florida team. not sure if I agree that UC does not have the athletes. They seemed to be on par with UGA in terms of the line play. I would say that they probably don't have the depth. Well they were ranked ahead of Georgia by one spot and yet the Bulldogs were the Vegas favorites - I think the line was 9. I have more faith in what the folks in Vegas say than the committee or pollsters - they’re on it to make money!! And Florida did beat Georgia by a lot. It was a gutty performance, no doubt, and truthfully they should have won if they just managed the clock better. And you’re definitely right about the depth differential. But Georgia is a far more talented team. Probably an indictment on Kirby Smart - never have though he’s a top tier head coach.

Yeah, the rule is to protect the defender really. I was at the Bengals game when Ryan Shazier nearly paralyzed himself on a similar hit. He obviously never played football again. It was a very scary scene and he knew he was in trouble immediately. You just can’t lead with your head or you’re getting tossed from the game.
I know I’ve mentioned numerous times that there should be a level 1 and a level 2 targeting penalty where one is deemed incidental as opposed to intentional. Unfortunately that requires a referee to qualify the difference and the intent of the player which I’m not sure many refs are capable of doing.

I said a while back that Liberty had the best claim had they been able to beat NC State, that would have given them 3 ACC wins even if the wins would have been over mediocre to bad teams. Living in Cincinnati I see a lot of their games and while they play hard and are well coached, they don’t have the athletes. I do give them credit - if they hadn’t thrown the ball on 3rd and 2, I think they would have won the game - that extra 40 seconds on the clock was the difference. I can’t believe they ran that pass play.
Anyway, it would have been a lot worse had one of those teams played Alabama - I think there was a huge drop off from #3 (or 11😉) to #4. Maybe Oklahoma should have been the choice?

But after a closer look it really was more like 42 years and 3 days; December 28, 1978, that was the night Clemson beat Ohio State 17-15 in the Gator Bowl - the Buckeyes lost the game while Woody Hayes lost his mind which signaled the end of his coaching career. Over the next 42 years (and all since 2014) OSU would lose to Clemson 3 more times in bowl games - twice in NC semi final games - one (2016) in brutal fashion, 31-0. Or was last year's more brutal - in a game they dominated statistically, OSU just couldn't finish their drives and had to settle for FG's, leaving the door open for Clemson. JK Dobbins dropped 2 TD passes and on the final drive, Fields threw an interception when the receiver ran the wrong route. (And of course was that fumble/TD that was overturned.) 2016 was bad but they were dominated - Clemson was clearly the better team. There were no 'ifs'. Last year I felt Ohio State was the better team - they just blew their opportunities. And give Clemson credit for not breaking when OSU got to the red zone.
This has been a year like no other. Hell, it didn't look like the B1G would even play in mid-September. And once they did, cancelled games and player limitations due to COVID made it difficult to establish any continuity. But all the way, Ohio State just wanted to play. They wanted to get back to the playoff. They played sloppy in a couple games, they didn't blow out Northwestern, they played Michigan State without 4 of the starting 5 offensive linemen, their middle linebacker and starting safety. Last night they were missing one of their top tailbacks, their starting guard and 2 key players in their defensive end rotation. But unlike Dan Mullins they didn't use that as an excuse - they played the hand they were dealt.
There were some plays last night that provided an unbelievable sense of irony, given what happened last year. Most fans are going to take the side of what favors their team, I know I do. Many times it's one or two plays that can change the outcome of a game - that wasn't the case last night. After Clemson took a 14-7 lead in the first quarter, Ohio State outscored the Tigers 42-14 the rest of the way. They dominated at the point of attack. They rolled up 639 yards of offense. They had the Clemson defenders off balance all night long. Their tight ends scored 3 TD's. Chris Olave got his retribution by scoring 2 TD's, including a beautiful bomb that blew the game wide open. Trey Sermon rushed for nearly 200 yards. And Justin Fields had one of the gutsiest performances I've ever seen by a Buckeye QB.
A lot was said about Dabo rating Ohio State #11 in his most recent coaches poll. While I'm sure that provided motivation, the Ohio State players will tell you all the motivation they needed was the feeling they had when they walked off the field last year. They worked 369 days to get another shot at Clemson and they weren't going to let this opportunity elude them. The hard part was getting back to the playoff, once they got there they could relax and play the game. They certainly took advantage of the opportunity they were provided - or should I say, earned.
Can they beat Alabama? I don't know, that's why they play the game. I do think they'll show up and I also think they'll score some points. This team ain't Notre Dame. Alabama has 5 first team All Americans on offense. That's a tough task. I will say Ohio State has 6 players who were named first or second team All American in their own right and Justin Fields or Chris Olave aren't one of them. Just keep Justin Fields COVID free for another 10 days and I like our chances. But if I'm a Bama fan, I'd like my chances. too.

Talk about gift wrapping a win - UC passes on third and 2 with 1:26 left in the game and Georgia has no timeouts. Run the ball - eat the damn clock. Georgia kicks a FG with 7 seconds to play. Can’t believe they did that.

I’ll just say this, if the exact same play would have gone against Clemson I think you’d feel differently. But that’s what makes being a fan so much fun. 😉

The targeting call was what it was, they followed the rule and it had to be called. The reversal on the fumble/TD return was inexcusable. I can post numerous YouTube videos where officials like Pererria agree. It should have never been overturned but it was so congrats Clemson. It was a poor call - I don’t care what anyone says. But at the same time, if Dobbins doesn’t drop 2 sure fire touchdown passes it doesn’t matter - OSU is taking a knee with a lead at the end. Let’s just hope there are no officials calls that decide the game tomorrow.

Mullins reaction to last night is laughable, as well. He said his scout team got some good reps, played well and they didn't have to play the game. He also said the last game his 2020 team played was 11 days ago. No wonder his team has an 'it's all about me' attitude; Mullin can't even accept that his team got it's ass beat, regardless of the situation. And as for - they didn't have to play, well Dan - your team didn't play.

That game last night and all the commentary was a disgrace. Agree Doc, they basically turned it into a talk show. They anointed Oklahoma a top team for next year, started Rattler’s Heisman campaign and they were playing a team that wanted to be anywhere than where they were. Pathetic.
