I'm not convinced Ohio State and Notre Dame would beat these teams Frankly, I think BYU would torch the Buckeyes and Irish Keep trolling...we do know Liberty can beat Coastal which beat BYU. I said a while back that Liberty was probably the best and most deserving of any of these ‘darling’ teams. Well they couldn’t beat NC State.

Utah football team opted out of playing a bowl game allowing players to be home for the holidays. Their star, freshman running back apparently accidentally shot himself and died last night in his Texas hometown. Had they accepted the bowl game my guess is he would have been on Utah for practice leading up to the bowl. Very sad.

No...to answer the topic question. Joining the 3 conference champions should be a 4th conference champ.....like a Coastal Carolina, Cincinnati,San Jose St. Oklahoma, or Oregon. I agree with you on this. Late season games are "playoff" games... lose, and you're out. Should be one of those Conference Champs... ANY of them would be preferable to ND Except to Alabama who knows they’re going to knock the crap out of ND.

Merry Christmas to all. Our daughter has been cooking up a storm while the rest of us just lay around waiting for the next round of food. Beef Wellington for dinner!

I don’t know - this guy had success at Boise State which is a higher profile job than the job Malzahn came from. Give him a chance - he may be a breath of fresh air. Malzahn was always going to be on the hot seat, cut the losses and move on.

The Strength Everywhere Conference is one of CF's ongoing myths I knew you would like that one, Hen. They were ragging on Danielson for his usual CBS propaganda. The SEC going .500 in conference is a display of power, parity and depth. Did he really say that?

Agree, OSU's run blocking has gotten very good lately. Pass blocking still needs some work: #11 #OhioState Offense Sacks allowed per game: 104th nationally TFL allowed per game: 88th nationally #2 #Clemson Defense Sacks/game: 4th nationally TFL/game: 2nd nationally And yet, they averaged close to 530 yards per game of offense - imagine if they didn’t have all those TFL’s. Sacks are easy - Fields holds on too long trying to make plays, he needs to dump it off sometimes and play for the next down.

The Big Ten’s combined win percentage is only .500 this year. a bad year! In the SEC, this would be called "having great depth in the conference" by the analysts. The Big Ten only played in conference games - they can only be .500. I’d think a CPA could figure that out😉. If the SEC Figured a way to have a higher than .500 record playing only conference games I’d be interested in how they did it. I know the ACC played some OOC games.

Personally I'd love to see them work him more into the running game - I think that would make defending the offense that much more difficult. I understand not risking injury against lesser teams with a multiple games left to play but now it's one and done and you have the off season to recover. Let him use his running skills to loosen things up a bit.
And he'll be drafted in the top 5 so there's no reason for him to come back to Ohio State. When Denzel Ward was picked at #4 a couple years ago he got a $25 million contract - there isn't a 21 year old in the world who you would tell 'don't take that money.'

OSU has 5 coaches with NFL experience, including head coach Ryan Day, but I'm not sure that really provides an edge. (It certainly hasn't for Jim Hatbaugh!) And OSU put up 516 yards of offense against Venables' defense last year and LSU had close to 650 in the championship game so teams with comparable athletes can and will exploit the Tiger defense. Thing is, there isn't a team in the ACC with remotely close to comparable athletes.
To quote Dennis Green of Minnesota Viking fame....'If you want to crown them, then crown their ass! But, they are who we thought they were, and we let them off the hook!' That's the way I felt about last years game - OSU let Clemson off the hook. That and the refs taking a TD off the board...

I actually have more respect for him on this - he said what he said and he backed it up with his rankings. The ball is in OSU court now, go prove him wrong.

As much as I’d like to see it, I’m not sure even Venablea can scheme to cover Waddle, Smith and also stop Harris. Extremely tall order for any defense to hold that offense in check for 60 minutes. I thoroughly enjoyed the beat down of ND, as I am sure most did. IMO, the key is to pressure Jones, confuse his reads, and blitz blitz blitz
Notre Dame is a very good team this year, and Ian Book was scrambling for his life after the first quarter. Clemson has a pretty good secondary too.
I saw some vulnerabilities in Alabama at the SEC Championship, while I saw what Clemson 2020 is truly capable of when everything is on the line
we shall see You'll have to score every possession because Alabama most likely will. Creating some turnovers will be key - I think the final will be something like 56-49, similar to the Florida game.

The school that plays the “holier than thou (literally)” card at every opportunity and yet harbored the college football fugitive known as Lou Holtz for eleven (11!) NCAA violation infested years, deserves every ounce of scorn you can muster. The ACC should have never provided Notre Dame with the games they did to fill out their schedule. They should say you're either all in or you're out, don't provide them with a schedule. On the other hand - thery're going to get 2 cuts of the playoff pie so maybe it was the right thing to do...I would guess ND will have to share their share but who knows.
