Whatever is fine with me, as long as it is voluntary, and not government mandated. There are 62 high schools nicknamed the "Redskins", including this one: www.washingtonpost.com/local/in-arizona-a-navajo-high-school-emerges-as-a-defender-of-the-washington-redskins/2014/10/26/dcfc773a-592b-11e4-8264-deed989ae9a2_story.html?utm_term=.445890958622The PC police have been on the warpath, pardon the pun, to coerce or compel schools across the country to conform to their ideals. But, isn't it odd that they have yet to target any of the greater number of schools with team nicknames that are derived from Caucasians: the "Fighting Irish", the "Norse", the "Gaels", the "Vikings", the "Spartans", the "Trojans", the "Fighting Scots", the "Celtics", the "Quakers", the "Athenians", the "Dutchmen", the "Scots", etc.?

I went to a Reds game last year when they were playing the Indians. There was a group of about 30 protestors outside and whenever anyone came up in Indians gear they harassed them all the way into the stadium calling them racists, etc. Even the young kids were getting abused. It was sad, certainly made the people protesting look like complete morons.

Washington Redhawks...how hard is it.... Irony, they name is Seminole. Seminoles are an actual tribe though Redskins are a derogatory name that only became acceptable because of NFL popularity What about Cleveland Indians? dumb name too....are they representing the country of India? My point with Washington Redskins is that the owner is just stubborn...you literally change 5 letters, and that's it. How hard is that? These wonderful NFL owners....

Indians isn't even racist, it's flat-out wrong...it's a centuries old F up which one is an Indian in the following pictures? OR If I was from India, my favorite team would be Cleveland

They can call them the Douchebags for all I care - my point is they made themselves look like bigger asses by verbally abusing everyone in an Indians jersey.

Would Blackskins work? Whiteskins? Yellowskins? What about Tokyo Slanty-Eyes? Chicago Hoodrats? Texas Wetbacks? There's a matter of common sense involved for sports teams....what works with Native Americans? - Actual Tribes: Fighting Illini, Seminoles, Utes - Aspects of the warriors of Native Americans: Warriors, Redhawks how bout something that doesn't involve skin color? that would probably work, ya think?

The Redskins owner has already decided to keep the "Redskins" nickname. What do you propose should be done about it?
If "Redskins" is a derogatory nickname, why do you suppose that an American Indian high school uses it?
Do you have a problem with Cleveland using the nickname "Indians"? American Indians don't have a problem with the nickname, but they do with the "Chief Wahoo" logo.
I find the current use of the term "Native American" to be offensive. I am a 100% Native American, even though I don't have a drop of American Indian blood in me.

Why hasn't anyone ever been able to pin an offensive label on white people?
I don't know of anyone who has been offended by "honkie", "whitie", "white nigger" (Robert Byrd), "cracker", "redneck", "white trash", "hillbilly", "trailer trash", "hick" or "gringo".
What did I miss?
