All 132 0-0 records in August should have exact equal value Why? How can one 0-0 record be better than any other 0-0 record ?

How can one 0-0 record be better than any other 0-0 record ? because they don't all start with brand new rosters every year. There is significant carryover in personnel from year to year. The "records" are equal, but the teams are most definitely not.

How can one 0-0 record be better than any other 0-0 record ? What makes you think it is? You must believe some 0-0, are better than other 0-0s if you believe in these polls.

What makes you think it is? You must believe some 0-0, are better than other 0-0s if you believe in these polls. As Bevo pointed out the records are equal but teams are not...good common sense. That said, polls are more your thing than mine. I can't remember the last time I read a poll.

They're relative rankings of teams. They're rankings that carry no more importance than Doc's ranking of all time best Ohio State wins. (I'm SURE he has one)

They're rankings that carry no more importance than Doc's ranking of all time best Ohio State wins. (I'm SURE he has one) #1. Ohio State over Miami (Fla) in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl in double overtime to capture the NC (or in the Hen's case - MNC).
#2. Ohio State over Alabama in the 2015 Sugar Bowl putting the Buckeyes in the NC (or in Hen's case - MNC) game.
#3. Ohio State over Michigan in 2002 which put the Buckeyes in the NC (or in Hen's case - MNC) championship game.
#4. Ohio State over Notre Dame in 1995 as Eddie George ran roughshod over the defenseless Irish.
#5. Ohio State over Oregon in the 2015 NC (or in Hen's case - MNC) game.
#6. Ohio State over USC in the 1969 Rose Bowl to win the NC (or in Hen's case - MNC). This was the first Buckeye game I ever watched and I've watched just about every game since.
#7. Ohio State over Michigan in 1979 to complete an undefeated season and put the Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl against USC and a shot at the NC (or in Hen's case - MNC).
#8. Ohio State over LSU in 1988 as they overcame a 15 point deficit in the final 2 minutes of the game to win by a point.
#9. Ohio State over Iowa in 1985 when the Hawkeyes were ranked #1 in the country knocking them out of NC (or in Hen's case - MNC) consideration.
#10. Ohio State over Michigan in 2016 in 2 overtimes leaving Jim Harbaugh bitterly disappointed and putting the Buckeye win streak over the Wolverines at 5 in a row.

What about OSU's 6-0 shutout of Ohio Medical in 1897 ( the only win of that season) and the defensively dominating 12-0 shut out of Wooster in 06 ?...or if you prefer great offense, the 59-0 wipe out of Kenyon in 03 ? Anyway thanks for acknowledging MNCs in OSU's big game history.
