This is the epicenter of Civil War country. We've got numerous schools named after famous Confederates as well as roads, parks, and. of course, statues everywhere. Looks like they are going to be renamed and / or removed. What do you guys think ?

If a town, or city, or university gets together and decides to change their name, or move a statue? I'm OK with that. I will oppose it. But, if I get out-voted, so be it. But, the current hysteria and outright lawlessness is exceedingly dangerous and needs to be STOPPED, ASAP. This is nothing more than a deliberate effort by guys like George Soros and Obama to sow discord in our country. BLM and Antifa are hate groups just as much as any ALT-right group. Obama invited BLM to the White House to praise them. Hell, I would attend a rally to stop the removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee, or Sam Houston. Now, I have to be worried about being physically attacked by Antifa? And then, I'LL BE THE ONE called a racist? It's insane.

Like Bevo said, just like ISIS and the Taliban blowing up statues and structures because they do not agree with it, some in the US are wanting to do the same. These monuments, for the most part, are memorials to those who defended their state from invaders. These are sons, husbands, fathers and brothers that are being memorialized. The ancestors of a lot of folk, who were not evil, but were doing there duty. And under today's standard, some call them wrong, but not at that time.
And for names of buildings, roads and schools, these men's attitudes or thoughts were the prevailing thoughts of the time. Of course they are "wrong" using today's standard. And while they may have done "bad" things (like belonging to the KKK for example), they also did good, which is why the thing was named after them. Publish the good AND the bad of them. Teach that we are all not perfect.

Agreed CNN is on a witchhunt as well...they've completely gone off the rails Where is the STATE govt of Virginia in all of this?? They need to step up and tell everyone to F off and get out of their state IMO, State governments need to start stepping up to a belligerent Federal presence

The mayor of Charlottesville should be charged with negligent homicide. And maybe the CoPolice too. The ACLU confirmed a police standown order was issued, the police backed away and funneled the Neo-Nazi crowd to walk right past the Antifa / BLM crowd.
When the police backed away, armed oath keepers were locked and loaded.
Notice the Antifa idiot with what looks lie 2 casts on - this is what they call "Antifa armor" - some embed metal rods in the plaster to deflect baton blows from law enforcement.
And if they were there peacefully, why the baseball bats and soda cans filled with concrete?
the $64,000 question is why was this done?
So that someone could get hurt and they could blame it on Trump.
Mission accomplished.

www.splcenter.org/fighting-hate/extremist-files/individual/jason-kesslerThe guy who organized this rally seems to have previously been involved with Occupy Wall Street and supported Obama? Seems like a messed up dude. In other shocking news, the idiot who drove the car into the crowd is a kid with known psychiatric problems. His own family wouldn't let him come around. Yet another failure attributable to our inability to deal with mental health problems.

There are two types of Civil War monuments and statues. One type genuinely honors the Confederate soldiers and government officials depicted. Most of these were erected by the first half of the 20th century. The other type were erected during the 1960s as a way of objecting to and protesting the new civil rights laws. Interestingly, one section of Arlington National Cemetery is dedicated exclusively to Confederate soldiers who were KIA: www.arlingtoncemetery.net/csa-mem.htm

Witness #1: "I was in the front of the rally and I saw the guys in the white hats starting to hit people."
Witness #2: "I was in the back of the rally and I saw the guys in the black hats starting to hit people."
Media: "So you both agree that Trump started it?"
Witness #1 and #2: "What? No. That's not what we're saying at all."
Media: "Okay. It's settled. Trump started this."

All day today, on MSNBC, they kept saying "Trump endorsed Nazism"... Uh, what? He most certainly did NOT. But, they keep saying it.... over and over. As if, that will somehow make it true. It's disgusting.

Trump eventually specifically condemned new-Nazis, white separatists and the KKK, after failing to do so initially. Then, he doubled down on his original comments condemning "all"sides.
For that, Trump has been universally scorned, by the usual suspects and by friends and supporters. It is the most bone-headed mismanagement of a controversy by a president in my memory.
I won't be surprised if tigercpa claims that the rest of the world is wrong and Trump is right. After all, he said that the rest of the world is wrong, including Trump, and that he is right when it comes to the sanctions imposed on Russia for meddling in the U.S. election. Lol.

Went to a jam tonight at our local county courthouse lawn right next to the statue of a confederate soldier. This is 'base' country so I think it probably has a good chance to remain. On the facade it says "to the soldiers of the Confederacy, 1861-1865.
