UCF and Ohio State?? Bigger playoff??

The committee made the correct decision based on the information they had in front of them AT the time.

UCF got screwed by a hurricane. That sucks. But, now they can forever claim that they should be Champ. Heck, probably 15-20 systems out there WlLL name them "Champs".

I think USC should have made the playoffs.

I think WISCONSIN should have made the playoffs.

I think 8 teams should have made the playoffs.

OSU argument to be taken over Alabama is more legitimate than Alabama being taken over UCF if you look at the numbers above.   If you take a look back prior to the selections most of the so called experts were predicting that tOSU would be given the bid.  Saying they had no argument is a ridiculous statement. 

Based on how the Bowl season panned out BAMA tOSU and UCF were are legitimate options and they all showed what they are capable of.  BAMA was impressive last night and made Clemson looked as they were inept.  I do agree with Evil and Hero that 8 would be far better than 4 as there are too many teams that are on the bubble that have a legitimate shot.   Back in 2014 tOSU made it in by a thread and went on to win it.   Who knows what TCU would have done.   This year BAMA could have been on the outside and would have been denied the chace to play for the title.

With the 4 team scenario my biggest complaint is the selection process.   If they continue to stick with 4 then have the gurus get together and establish criteria that can be utilized in computer rankings.   Then use the computer rankings to establish who the top 4 are.

You're right. They had an argument. It just wasn't the "best" one. Texas had an argument too. It was really terrible though.





It all depends on what you're trying say they were "legitimate" for? Being good enough to emerge as a winner in an expanded playoff field? Absolutely, yes.. any of them COULD have done it. One might even say they were each LIKELY to do it. But, that's NOT what the committee was charged with determining. They were supposed to pick what they thought were the "best four teams", based on the information available at the time of selection.

Not the "best four champions". They're supposed to consider the ENTIRE season, not just the last game. Bama was clearly considered to be one of the "best teams". Vegas had them favored over ALL other teams.. they're still favored over Georgia. That's all the proof needed to show that the committee was right. People who vote with MONEY, voted for Bama.

If we're going to expand a playoff field to a size big enough that ANY team that MIGHT be good enough to win is in? It's going to be a REALLY big field. We'll be playing close to half the season in a playoff.

What we have is a mess, but... it's generating a TON of interest, a TON of money, and it's set up in a way that keeps the NCAA from being sued. There's not a lot of incentive, from the University President's POV to change things. So, don't expect much of it.
