OSU argument to be taken over Alabama is more legitimate than Alabama being taken over UCF if you look at the numbers above. If you take a look back prior to the selections most of the so called experts were predicting that tOSU would be given the bid. Saying they had no argument is a ridiculous statement. Based on how the Bowl season panned out BAMA tOSU and UCF were are legitimate options and they all showed what they are capable of. BAMA was impressive last night and made Clemson looked as they were inept. I do agree with Evil and Hero that 8 would be far better than 4 as there are too many teams that are on the bubble that have a legitimate shot. Back in 2014 tOSU made it in by a thread and went on to win it. Who knows what TCU would have done. This year BAMA could have been on the outside and would have been denied the chace to play for the title. With the 4 team scenario my biggest complaint is the selection process. If they continue to stick with 4 then have the gurus get together and establish criteria that can be utilized in computer rankings. Then use the computer rankings to establish who the top 4 are. Totally agree about the computer rankings Ohio State and UCF should have a shot this year Ohio State had there chances and lost some games which put them on the bubble and with only 4 spots they can only blame themselves for being left on the outside. That being said, I would have loved to see them have the opportunity to compete in the playoff. UCF ran the table and beat 2 teams in the top 25. They did schedule 2 teams from the power 5 even thought the GT game was cancelled at least they made an effort. The way that they played Auburn was impressive and it would have been fun to see how they would compete in the playoff as well.

I think my thinking on Ohio State changed after the B1G conference proved they were the best conference this year in the bowls. I thought they were during the regular season, but the bowl record proved it. Knowing that, I think it doesn't feel right that the strongest conference of 2017 didn't have their champion in the playoffs. That is stupid. The best part of the playoffs is seeing all the different conferences play each other. College football is highly regional...it is good for the sport to get all the conference champs together. Ohio State would have been a tough team in the playoffs

Isn't that just another was of saying: The regular season matters? UCF ran the table and beat 2 teams in the top 25. They did schedule 2 teams from the power 5 even thought the GT game was cancelled at least they made an effort. Which is EXACTLY why I said I think they had a "better argument" than OSU. The Big 12 Champion was faulted a couple of years ago (To Ohio State's benefit) because we hadn't played as many games. That's a P5 Conference Champ. A G5 Conference Champ has NO CHANCE if they only have 12 games... Especially if the missing game was a decent matchup against a P5 conference team. It sucks...but, with a severely limited field, that's the way it is.
