Congratulations Derrick Henry. I have been following this young man's stats since he was in high school. Breaking Ken Hall's high school rushing record was amazing. Choosing Alabama was pretty cool too.

I have wondered if this record would ever be broken.

Maybe I read that somewhere... I knew a couple of people had been getting close to it. But, like you... I NEVER though the "Sugarland Express" Total yards record would ever be broken.
Impressive... and yet, no one wants to give the kid ANY credit.

I'd like to see the Heisman Trust clarify its definition and also reduce the number of voters...way too much muddy water, lack of consistency and way too many "select media" having votes

I'd like to see the Heisman Trust clarify its definition and also reduce the number of voters...way too much muddy water, lack of consistency and way too many "select media" having votes The regional bias and the CBS/ESPN hype machine pumping SEC players has drained all leiitimacy from the Heisman. That Christian McCaffery this year or Andrew Luck on either of two occasions didn't win are testimony to that Bias. Listining to the CBS announcers you would think that Henry was unique, he was not. No different than the previous Bama running backs in production and skill.

When I watch a game on CBS, I have to turn the sound off on Vern and Gary - it's nauseating.
Saw a post the other day, that compared RBs over the last 5 years, and all with similar stats, the highest any of those RBs got was 4th (twice) and no votes (twice). Some had more yards, some higher YPC, but all very similar overall.

you mean, the Heisman bias that picked Marcus Mariota (PXII) just last year? The bias that elevated Charles Woodson (B1G) over Peyton Manning (SEC)?? That selected John Huarte (Notre Dame) over Joe Namath (SEC)??
Henry is not unique? He has more rushing yards than ANY RB in the SEC history. Is that not unique? More rushing yards in high school than ANY back, ever? Is that not unique?
Henry had 20 more carries than McCaffrey, but 140 more yards... that's a HIGHER YPC average. And, Henry scored 23 TD's... McCaffrey had 8.
There were three REALLY GOOD choices this year, and the voting was pretty darn close. But, anyone who says Henry didn't deserve it? Or, simply won due to SEC bias?? Just doesn't know SHIT about football.

Sorry... that's probably the jet-lag talking.
I should have said, "doesn't know SHIT about the Heisman".

This was the table.
Anyone trying to argue that Henry’s stats put him in rare air clearly never watched football before this year. I’m cool with saying he’s one of the best players on one of the best teams, but he isn’t winning it cause his stats are unheard of...
It was nice knowing that regardless of the outcome, there were 3 good kids there, with no apparent character issues like Manziel, Winston or Newton.

Did any of those guys play against Bama's schedule? Who were they competing with in the years they had their good season?
I have never tried to say that Henry is the greatest Rb ever... I'm just saying, it GROSSLY UNFAIR to suggest he "doesn't deserve" the award, or that he "Only won it because of SEC bias"... that's bunk.
His stats, this year, were as good or better than ANYONE ELSE, this year. He's accomplished things that no other RB has been able to do... at least, in the SEC. And, that's a pretty decent group of backs.

Congrats to Henry, best of luck to everyone else.
