Settling out pretty good this year. All 0 and 1 loss teams will be in the playoff and all 2 loss teams except Washington and South Alabama will be in the NY6.

It at least pretty much guarantees the deserving teams get in; not hoping some committee makes the right decision about #4, #5, #6.

Possibly. They would likely be behind the champions from the SEC, B12, ACC, P12, and AAC. The only question is would they be behind the SB champ or UTSA (should they win the CUSA).

The new setup will increase the push to no divisions and top-two conference championships. The Big Ten is case in point. A Purdue win "might" not be enough to get them in, allowing the Sun Belt champ to slip into the #6 slot. Without divisions, tOSU and Michigan would be playing again tomorrow with the winner getting a bye. Michigan would be in. tOSU would probably be in with another loss, but there are only six at-large slots and depending on what happens in the other ccgs, they "could" be just outside.

Top six conference champs get in; top four conference champs (not top four teams) get byes.

Pac 12 has been heading into the abyss. They had a losing record last year.
