So 1973 Michigan is rated around #113 and the 1973 Ohio State is #132 I believe. They both were 10-0-1 and tied when they played in Ann Arbor, 10-10. Ohio State was selected to play in the Rose Bowl and blew out USC. The Buckeyes ended up #2 in the country behind Notre Dame. Both teams had great defenses, OSU gave up 69 points all season and 21 of those came against USC in the Rose Bowl. Both teams had eerily similar stats - And yet, ESPN found over 21 teams better than Ohio State even though all the polls and stats put OSU ahead of Michigan back in 1973. The bias ESPN has against Ohio State is as clear as the nose on the Wizard Of Oz’s face. Ya, I thought Ohio State 2014 at 118 was kind of a slap in the face 2004 USC at #2 is absurd Well I don't know if the #2 ranking is high or low but they did beat an unbeaten #2 team by 36 points and it could have been more. And the Ou team had Adrian Peterson, argueably the best running back of his generation

The best team of all time was 1972 USC trojans. They beat #3, #4, #10 #14 #15 #18. No team got to within 18 points of the Trojans that year. Most dominant of all time. Neb in 1971 might be top 10 or so. Nebraska 1971 is #1 on the list - I saw it recently. They beat #2, #3 and #4...probably others but the final poll that year was Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado and Alabama and Nebraska beat all three. Nebraska was one bad bounce from a loss in there last game of the season. USC beat the #3 Buckeyes by 25 in the last game of the season and it could have been 40.

ESPN came out with a list of the top 150 teams ever in college football history. I think they have a show on it So here's a sneak peek... #2 USC 2004 #25 Oklahoma 2000 #51 Alabama 2011 #118 Ohio State 2014 very interesting interpretation here by ESPN The best team of all time was 1972 USC trojans. They beat #3, #4, #10 #14 #15 #18. No team got to within 18 points of the Trojans that year. Most dominant of all time. Neb in 1971 might be top 10 or so.

I see the PXII at 6-2, the BIG-10(14) at 3-5.

We know it's coming...Harbaugh is going to make Michigan Alabama part II, and I think they will start dominating Ohio State as well Alabama, Clemson, and (soon) Michigan are on another level I also think Washington is for real...Chris Peterson is building something there How many years since Michigan has beat tOSU?

Well I watched the game and was impressed with what Herman and company have done with Strongs players. The Horns will be an 8-4/9-3 team imho, beating either OkSt or Ok and winning most /or all of their other games. IMHO the game was much closer than it needed to be because:
1) Idiotic play calling/or hubris on the part of USC to continue running into a stacked box,6-8 within5 yards of los.
2) Real weakness at Wr on USC with 6 droped passes(one resulted in pix six for the horns)
I think there will be a barn burner next yeart in Austin when these teams meet again

Its a long season and each conference game is an elimination for the final four if you lose. My take:
Sec: Alabama loses a game but wins the ccg and is in.
Big: No telling who goes but a 2 loss team does not make the final 4. and unlike last year a team which does not play in the Big CCG will not go
ACC: Clemson looked good against an outmanned Louisville, not so hot agauinst an Auburn team with real defense players. They have 3 potential losers. @vtech, @sc , and Fl St
Big 12: Ok and Ok St lead but they both must get by Kst and Texas and each other. Also have a CCG. Again a 2 loss team does not go
PXII: Washington is on cruise control. Stanford and USC both had let down games, after beating each other up, against Good opponents(SDSU and Tejas). There is a likely matchup of Washington vs USC in CCG. Both teams likely to be one loss or better. The winner goes to the NC playoff

The gist of the paper is that the science is not good enough to influence policy. It is good enough to inspire more and better research. A thought: The only data that is "real" and universally accepted is the atmospheric Carbon dioxide data which shows growing Carbon consistanrt with humane use. One outcome of continued increase might be initiating the next Iceage--long overdue. Now that would be a planetary disaster and not just some inconvience for the homes along Malibu beach.

Those guys are clueless. 5 of the 10 biggest games will be the 5 CCG's since at least 3 and maybe 4 of the final 4 will come out of the CCG's
