Memphis-- they look like the real deal...how fast up the rankings do they rise? I think they should start getting real consideration Alabama-- I don't think they have to win the SEC to get in the playoff...I think they just need to win out. Oklahoma-- I think a lot of people have already crowned the TCU-Baylor winner as the Big XII winner, but Oklahoma's offense has found another gear lately... The PAC 12-- I think I have to hand The Most Overrated Conference title to the PAC 12 this year...I don't get the media love for them. I guarantee Stanford is overrated....Utah was overrated, and USC, Oregon, Arizona State, Arizona, and UCLA were all overrated!!! Seriously, what is the signature win of this conference?? Hopefully the playoff committee will see through the media hype train The PXII is not overrated, just over balanced. Only 2 teams which won't go to a bowl. Either Stanford and Utah go to the final 4 if they win out. BTW the SEC is down to 2 teams and both of them could lose another game or 2.

One of my favorite coaches ever has stepped away. So...who takes over my Gamecocks??? The team has made massive upgrades in facilities to now...they're as nice as Bama or anyone elses. They pay a lot. 4 million a year minimum. Manageable SEC East. Fans want to win...but won't call for firings over an 8 win season. Win the SEC you'll be a legend and get a statue. Great beaches. Low cost of living. Fertile recruiting ground surrounds this state within driving distance. Modest expectations. And Spurrier showed it can be done. We keep hearing Kirby Smart, a Stoops, and even Chip Kelly. Thoughts? Who can be a 9 game winner and possibly get USC to Atlanta? The hot name is Tom Herman, currently at Houston. Tom was the offensive coordinator at tOSU last year when they were a monster. they reverted to normal after he left.

It looks like the trouble shooting did some good. I think tthat Bama is the best team in the country right now and they are only a fluke play away from being unbeaten

Mizzou is not sneaky' When SEC visitors play in Colombia they actually have to travel--probably a 5-6 hr trip counting time to and from airports. Fla is a 3pt favorite probably because we don't know who the QB will be.

Herman, the new Houston coach is a real comer. Look at tOSU without Herman this year and at the offensive play of the Buckeyes at the end of last year.

Northwestern is ranked #1 in 7 systems (per the Massey composite ) I don't know about #1 but they have a decent team. They beat 2 P5 conference teams OOC--both were mythically ranked when they played. They held Stanford to 6pts in the opener since then stanford has been scoring more than 40/game in conference. Lets see how they do this friday against the Wolverines.

If it does Jimmie Johnson and Barry Switzer, both Ark graduates, won both Super Bowls and MNC's. BTW in another post, which you apparently didn't understand, I asked if winning a super bowl was the only criteria for being a great coach. As you know Bear Bryant went to Alabama and had some sucess as a football coach. In that post I also pointed out that players from power 5 conferences are less likely to take the normal career path to Head Coaching--they have more options.

How about the College football hall of fame? BTW you know that most football coachs start as graduate assistants then ease in to film edditing/conditioning/quality control/ and then to being and asst. For a guy with a pro career that just doesn't work. SEC=more pro careers.

#10 Johns Hopkins is an associate member of the Big Ten and Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Penn State and Ohio State are all within the top 52. Not bad for a bunch of schools with no honor. Chicago was also a charter member of the Big Ten but obviously they dropped out a while ago. Well if you just took the top 50 instead of 25 both the ACC and the BIG tie or pass the PXII. Both are great academic conferences. No additions for the B12 but the SEC adds Florida!

These roster counts must really vary among sites. I can't imagine 56 FSU guys on current active rosters. For example ESPN's' NFL players by college' right after final cuts showed 41 total FSU guys and that includes practice squads.According to its count on opening day : FSU-41 Miami-41 Bama -39 Florida -39 LSU -39 USC -36 The only way to really know, I guess, would be to go to the NFL.com rosters and count 'em up ourselves. There are players on the reserve roster of each team. I think 9 players/team currebtly allowed who are under contract but not acrivated until an active player is declared inactive.

Instead of posting who I think is playing the best, I think I might start posting who I think will make the playoff when it's all said and done....obviously Ohio State isn't playing the best right now, but I do think they have an excellent chance to go undefeated with their schedule. So, not based on performance, but rather on projected odds of making it....this is what I have: #1 Ohio State vs. #4 Florida State #2 Baylor vs. #3 Notre Dame I think Ohio State and Baylor go undefeated...the SEC and the PAC 12 destroy themselves I think Notre Dame loses to Clemson this weekend, but wins out after that ...and FSU is flying under the radar right now...if their offense shapes up and gels, they have a lot of talent and could be pretty good this year. If they drop a game, but still win the ACC, they could be in the running still at the end Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Baylor all have the right ingredients...good QBs, easy schedule, returning talent, good coaches Because the PXII and SEC champs will have 2 loses? Or there schedules are not tough enough?

You got a better candidate? The SEC QBs suck.
Yes... the kid from Georgia
You mean the kid from Virginia who doesn't run or attempt passses longer than 15 yards?
