Very disappointing ending to a great day. Largest home crowd in school history, 35K+ and chances to win. A blocked PAT, missed FG, blocked FG. Get any of those and either going to OT or winning the game. And stupid penalties hurt too. One of em was an offside on 4th down that gives Wake a 1st down and they continue the drive and get a go ahead score. But nice weather, nice crowd and great times with friends and fraternity brothers.

Big game in Boone this weekend. Wake Forest is coming to play Appalachian. Stadium is sold out and a large crowd is expected. First time Wake has ever come up the mountain. ASU-WFU starting playing in 1979 and did so every year in Winston-Salem. Large crowds, good games. But Wake stopped it in the 2000's. Now they will make the 90 mile trip to the High Country. And of course, I will be there in my seats on the 50.
GO APPS!!!! BEAT WAKE!!!

When I was there for the App game a number of years ago, we were on the 30, but so high up the guy behind me had wings.

Like Bevo said, just like ISIS and the Taliban blowing up statues and structures because they do not agree with it, some in the US are wanting to do the same. These monuments, for the most part, are memorials to those who defended their state from invaders. These are sons, husbands, fathers and brothers that are being memorialized. The ancestors of a lot of folk, who were not evil, but were doing there duty. And under today's standard, some call them wrong, but not at that time.
And for names of buildings, roads and schools, these men's attitudes or thoughts were the prevailing thoughts of the time. Of course they are "wrong" using today's standard. And while they may have done "bad" things (like belonging to the KKK for example), they also did good, which is why the thing was named after them. Publish the good AND the bad of them. Teach that we are all not perfect.

The "Lack of Institutional Control" at N. Carolina was over and Academic Department (AFAM), not the athletic department. Thus, not in the NCAA's field of control.

Not only did the ACC have a winning record against P5, they had a winning record against the SEC

The AFAM Dept. problems were done by and supervised by the dept. head and his secretary. And this dept. was established after protests on the campus, with charges of racism being thrown. Part of the history of UNC. And the athletes were leading the protests. Thus, the University giving AFAM the same supervision as other departments would have led to charges of racism again. Now did coaches notice the good grades from the players taking AFAM classes and getting degrees, I say yes. Did they, and academic advisors, steer players to this degree, probably yes. Did they know the nature of not meet classes and independent study, there is the rub. None have admitted that they did.
And the reason I put stock in Jay Bilas comment is not only is he a former player and ESPN talking head, he is a lawyer. And that is where he took the stand on this not being the NCAA jurisdiction.

North Carolina academic thing is a university problem, not an athletic one. This is the university not over seeing or holding to standards a department (African/African American Studies) that is did over other departments. This was not "classes" just for athletes, or coaches fixing grade. These "classes" were open to all students. This is a thing looked at by the accreditation services, not the NCAA. As Jay Bilas (and others) have stated, this is not in the NCAA's jurisdiction.
And all of us, who were in college, know, we found out where the easy classes and "easy A's" were.

I am not sure about the allegations against Rose. The thing being is the can't be proven, or disproven. Unless she recants or he confesses, it is going to remain a he said, she said thing. As for Ty Cobb, I don't know why he should be in the Sleazeball Hall of Fame.
And OJ can start looking for the real killers on every golf course in America.
