I hope so. But I really don't know. The Camalia bowl does not have a big pay day.

Beating UGA would be sweet, but I ain't betting on it. But if App does, we have a good shot a going undefeated, as long as we stay focused. It seems like App always falters in at least one game during the year.

Bevo, that is what I meant. Saban can look all noble and be praised by the talking heads by being so bold, but has the "put at a disadvantage" out now, because it would hurt his program to do it unilaterally. So, he won't be looked down on or punished for proposing this but not doing it. The best of both worlds.

I am very confidant in my Mountaineers (the App St. ones). I will be bold and project 11 wins in the regular season. And if (or better when) we do, the Apps will be in the running for the G5 New Year's Day spot.

Saban can say this because he knows it will never happen, thus gives him a good PR position. And it won't happen because of money, which controls everything. Almost all P5 school want, and have, 7 to 8 home games. They "need" these many for the pay day. If you schedule just P5, the most home games will be 6. P5 schools will want a home & home contract. Athletic Departments "just can't live" on 6 home games. That is where G5 and FCS come in. Don't require home & home.
Also, there are some states (N. Carolina being one) that have forced P5 state schools (in this case UNC & NCSU) to play the other state FBS school (ECU, but not ASU yet). That would be difficult to not do.
But it would give the P5 teams and their pundits a new, or better, reason to exclude the G5 from any playoff. The "They don't play anybody" quote would be reinforced. No loss to a G5 school, no need to put them in the playoff.
But is Saban is a man of his convictions, maybe he should practice what he preaches.

I hate being one to limit someone's income, being the good greedy capitalist I am, but the money spent on some HC is just to high. I know the ones who support the pay will point out the money brought in and free market and time spent, but you are coaching a game at a not for profit institution. And maybe a salary cap could be a good thing in making the playing field more even, a lot of the "salary" is from other non coaching sources, so how do limit that?
But my vote is Yea.

HEELS WIN! Yes it was an ugly game, but an ugly win is still a win. The refs did slow down the game and both teams had bad calls go against em. And Bevo, as for the fix in the UNC-UK game, UK had only ONE more foul called against them (19) than Carolina did (18)

The reason for the 24 teams and the "bloated" basketball tournament is the NCAA rule that at least 50% of the teams must be at large. That is how the FCS got to 24, more conferences qualified (had enough teams) or elected to participate.

While Ohio St could be in the playoff, I can't see a 2 loss Penn State in over a 1 loss, Pac12 champ Washington, a 1 loss Louisville or a 1 loss Big 12 champ WVU (or Oklahoma) That would be interesting if that happens. You could have a civil war among the P5
