Now, put yourself in Donald Trump's shoes. What are you going to do? Won't anyone man up and give this a shot? What is there to do at this point? Making a few questionable hiring choices is not a cause for termination. I would wait until there was some ACTION to justify removal. If Mueller has indeed granted immunity to Comey? I might consider that cause. Comey just admitted, under oath, to a potentially illegal leak of FBI property. In NO WAY should he be granted immunity right now. But, that would be a judgement call. I think it's pretty clear: Trump CAN legally fire Mueller, if he so chooses. With, or without cause. But, the legal mechanisms aren't well defined. There would be a substantial POLITICAL cost to doing this. And, in the end, impeachment is a POLITCAL process, not legal. The best outcome right now would be to let Mueller continue, and hope he concludes quickly. If he does, he'll be the FIRST Special Prosecutor to ever do so. At this point, it's a mess that is not likely to go away anytime soon. For 8 years, I was amazed that Obama was able to avoid a Special Prosecutor. I guess, only Republican Presidents are subject to this farce. A good perspective. However, I don't know if Trump can fire Mueller. He can certainly order Rosenstein to fire Mueller, and can fire and replace Rosenstein if he refuses to do so and doesn't resign. It has happened before. Google "Saturday Night Massacre".

I'm old enough to remember the Saturday Night Massacre... It was the first time I ever heard of Robert Bork. The entire set up for a Special Prosecutor is governed by regulations issued by the Justice Dept... the Justice Dept is under the direction of the President. I can't see any logical reason, under the constitution, that would prevent the President from over-turning ANYTHING the Justice Dept regulates. It's unclear though. Would take a LONG time for the courts to settle it, and there's no guarantee that logic would be a part of their decision.

I feel sorry for the buffoon and don't think he really wanted to win. Most of us are as qualified to be Plasma Physics instructors at MIT as the buffoon is to be POTUS.

I'm surprised yahoo.com still exists. Yahoo is gone.

I have had a Yahoo email address forever. Love it. I also like my My Yahoo home page a lot. Life wouldn't be the same without either.

On legal grounds, Mueller should recuse himself from the Russia investigation, IF that's what he is investigating.

On what legal grounds?

On what legal grounds? William G. Otis, adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center, who says Mueller should recuse himself as special investigator in the Russian investigation under the following sections of law because 1) he has a personal, professional or political history and relationship with James Comey, AND 2) his participation may result in a personal, financial or political conflict of interest, or the appearance thereof. 28 CFR section 45.2 28 USC section 528

I don't know about #2, but #1 was well known and not disputed at the time of his appointment.
