You make a pretty compelling case for the superiority of the P5 over the G5, and the superiority of the SEC over the rest of the P5 over the past 10 years.
In fact, I think you just presented the strongest evidence ever.
It's a pretty big drop to the G5. That's not "Media driven perception". That's reality. WHO is developing the best talent.

Hmnnn.... Thought I heard a pin drop here. After all Hen's efforts in putting this data together, I expected this thread to reach 2000+ replies.
Instead, it's like someone dropped a turd in a well.

So much of that is very common knowledge. It still has nothing to do with equal opportunity. Equal opportunity gives the designated 2nd class citizens an opportunity to increase their talent base. Utah, for example...just with the opportunity to compete by being in a privileged league now there are 23 UTES on NFL final rosters....more than 9 SEC teams ! 10 years ago when Utah was in the 'mid major' MWC it produced 13 NFLers. There are top prospects that would love to stay home and play for their local college team. They might say something like " coach, I love the university, I love your offense and you coaches but you're not "P5". You should be able to 'get' this basic concept, Bevo, of the impact of equal opportunity on equalizing the playing field. Why would a hot prospect sign with a program that is systematically eliminated from a championship opportunity before a single FB practice because a Cartel draws a line in the sand to create a two class system ?

Why would a hot prospect sign with a program that is systematically eliminated from a championship opportunity before a single FB practice because a Cartel draws a line in the sand to create a two class system ? Common knowledge? Just a few weeks ago, you tried to tell me the difference between P5 and G5 was just "media driven perception". You ask ME if I couldn't see this. I told you, "I see what is!". Meaning, I see the clear distinction between the two classes of conferences. You've just provided the best proof ever that this divide exists...and, it's LARGE. There are plenty of reasons why a prospect would play for a G5 school: 1) NOT BEING GOOD ENOUGH, as a High School Sr to get invited by a P5 school. 2) Personal reasons to want to be close to home, 3) Intangibles... Like Randy Moss, being found out as a pot head. That doesn't mean the player won't improve, and eventually make the NFL anyway. Your stats show that it is entirely possible. But, the level of play... the overall level of talent between the P5 and G5 is huge.. and the difference in overall talent between the SEC and the OTHER conferences is almost as large. The data does show: The TOP schools in the other P5 conference are just as competitive as the top SEC schools.... but, as a conference? Top to bottom? NO ONE has been CLOSE to the SEC in the past 10 years. Nothing is static... things may be changing now. But, the past history is VERY CLEAR... it has nothing to do with "ESPN driven hype, or Perception"... it's been real. You've left no room for argument with this data. THANKS!

lol CLASSIC! I love me some Randy. His famous quote is the name of one of my fantasy teams: "Straight Cash, Homey!" But.... he did love him some reefer. He's admitted as much.

Bevo, you will never comprehend the concept of 'level playing field' or 'equal opportunity' ...both of which include recruiting. Nor will you ever 'get' how the stigmatization that the unofficial (non NCAA classification) made up two class system of FBS football impacts both . You simply cannot think outside of the elitist box.
Anyway, We can just agree to disagree and have fun.

I'm just trying to get you to agree that there ISN'T ONE! There is a big difference, in general, between the P5 and G5 schools.... and, it's NOT "media drive perception". It's mostly DOLLARS, but also conference affiliation. What I don't understand is: Why do the G5 schools seems so insistent on trying to compete in a system that is so obviously biased against them? Why not have there own playoff among schools with similar levels of resources? Maybe, it's because they want a cake walk to a playoff, where they can hope for "flukes", and score a big payday? I don't know. But, I don't think it's anything to do with fairness in competition.

Even though there is huge recruiting disadvantage for those FBS programs unfairly stigmatized as second class citizens and given zero opportunity to compete for championships, some have actually done a splendid job of acquiring and developing FB talent :
Re: 2017 NFL active opening day rosters :
Boise State, Central Florida and Cincinnati - 13 players each.... as many or more than 27, so called, privileged 'P5' programs or 40% of the unofficial 'P5' classification
Think of what they might do if not stigmatized ?
UConn, Utah St., Toledo, C.Mich, SMU, and USF also have 10 or more NFL players......more than 17 , so called, P5s
