Stigmatized by the Cartel including its media outlets. There is no such thing as NCAA 'G5' or 'P5' divisions or subdivisions. It's made up but casual CF fans think they are official classifications, because the media hammers on it. It's not stigmatization. It's simply a manner of convenience for communication. Long ago, people recognized that something was different between "day" and "night".. so, we figured out names to call them. There is a VERY CLEAR difference between the G5 and P5 conferences. It makes sense to find some way talk about them. G5 & P5 are pretty accurate descriptors. Sure there is an overall difference........mainly because the Cartel concocted the difference and continues to expand it with its made up monikers. For example, Rice was a 'major' (P5) at one time ( with good recruiting). Now Rice is assigned a second class status just because of the league it has to play in...stigmatized.

The difference is driven by money! Those that have it, and those who don't. The cartel is just promoting the game... to maximize how much money EVERYONE can get a shot at. For example, Rice was a 'major' (P5) at one time ( with good recruiting). Now Rice is assigned a second class status just because of the league it has to play in...stigmatized. LOL Surely, you're kidding... right? Rice was relegated to also-ran status a LONG time before anyone ever heard of G5, P5, BCS, CFP or cartels. They held on, in the SWC for 2 or 3 decades LONGER than they deserved to be in an "upper level" conference. It's a TINY school, with very high academic standard. Not a great combination if you want to be a football powerhouse these days.

FHF: Do you have any idea how many small P5 schools with high academic standards you have just disqualified?
Did you know that two of the top-4 colleges in enrollment are members of G5 conferences: #1 UCF (64,000+) and #4 FAU (55,000+)?

Bevo, before the Cartel and its media outlets began using the made up G5 and P5 monikers "Major' and 'Mid-Major' were used. Rice was 'Major' when in the SWC

I just stated the obvious: That it's difficult for such schools to compete in the modern era of HUGE budgets and nationwide recruiting. And, yes.. I was aware that UCF and FAU have large enrollments. That's great for them. It means, if they want, they have a decent chance to grow and advance to a P5 conference. For now, they are choosing to NOT spend as much on their football programs. Probably wise on their part. But, that's what's keeping them where they are.

Bevo, before the Cartel and its media outlets began using the made up G5 and P5 monikers "Major' and 'Mid-Major' were used. Rice was 'Major' when in the SWC Hen, you're too funny. You think I don't know the history of Rice? I was born 5 miles from the campus, lived 30 miles away, and was offered a full-ride scholarship to go there. I turned them down, in large part because, I was a LONGHORN football fan. By 1977, they were non-competitive in football. Texas beat them 28 years in a row. When the SWC broke up, I didn't see any other "Major" conferences rushing to grab them... even though, they sit in Houston, one of the larger TV markets. Even people in Houston don't care about Rice (Or UH). They're mostly all UT or A&M fans. You can whine all you want about names. Its doesn't matter. What matters is: DOLLARS in the Budget, and TALENT on the field. You've proven that the talent difference is large. The Dollar difference pretty much reflects the same.

What if a low budget football team has superior talent on the field of play? Should that team be denied an opportunity to compete because of its low budget?

Sure its about dollars, Bevo...but if in a privileged league there is vastly more revenue to be shared from TV contracts and big PSEGs...and more revenue leads to bigger budgets, better facilities etc. which draws better recruits. The playing field is still not level. The poor can't get rich in the stigmatized two class system.

What if a low budget football team has superior talent on the field of play? Should that team be denied an opportunity to compete because of its low budget? If they're in a G5 conference, they'd better find a way to prove that their talent is superior. That would include scheduling, and beating a couple of decent P5 teams.

Never mind what you have or haven't earned, only concern yourself with what others have earned and have not given to you. Liberal ideology at its core.
