Playoff for a mythical national championship of nothing. Form over substance.

There are worthy teams out there that are sweating just as much blood as the 4 that will be fortunate enough to get enough beauty contest votes, Bevo. You know that. ..and you also know in your heart that playing is better than voting...and that national championship semi-finalists should never be determined by opinions.

Playoff for a mythical national championship of nothing. Only to you, man... and, maybe Hen. To the teams that are out there sweating blood, it means plenty. Then, pray tell, what is the CFP the championship of? It can’t be any type of NCAA championship. The only D-I football championship that is sanctioned by the NCAA is the FCS playoff. The winner is the national champion for all of D-I football - look at the trophy. The CFP championship is for the championship of nothing! That makes it a mythical championship.

Playoff for a mythical national championship of nothing. Form over substance. You are correct that the CFP lacks substance. I will agree that it is entertaining, even though it is for a mythical championship.

Whether you like it or not, the CFP Champion is the de factor Champion of the FBS Division of Div 1 football. It's recognized as such by the teams trying to win it, by the press that covers it, by the fans that watch it, and by the sponsors who are willing to PAY to participate in it. The NCAA even tacitly endorses it, both with their own failure to present any alternative and by referencing this on their official web page.

Wrong. The NCAA has SANCTIONED the FCS championship playoff, and recognizes the winner as the champion of all of D-I football, including FBS. The NCAA failed to sanction a D-IA or FBS championship even before the BCS or CFP even existed. The NCAA no more “endorses” the CFP than it “endorses” any post-season bowl game. You are grasping at straws!

But, you are correct, it is sanctioned and governed by the CFP; therefore, it is a legitimate and recognized national championship.

It isn’t sanctioned by the CFP, and even if it was it wouldn’t be an NCAA championship of any nature.
It is for the CFP championship, just as the winner of any bowl game is the champion of that bowl.
Just curious - do you know how the CFP is legally organized, and who owns it?

It's still the CFP National Championship.

Some people just can't accept reality. Others just get their jollies by pissing on everyone else's parade.

The person who can’t accept reality is the person you see when you look in the mirror!
At least tigercpa accepts the reality that the CFP is “form over substance”. The reality, the substance, is that the CFP is not an FBS championship, a D-I championship or any other form of NCAA championship. It is a mythical championship. Any bowl claiming to be for the national championship would be equally legitimate.

It is not true that teams have access based upon performance, UCF being a case in point.

UCF is being assessed like all other teams. Their very weak schedule hurts their resume.
