It is true that no team automatically qualifies. It is also true that every G5 conference team is effectively disqualified before the season even begins. It is not true that teams have access based upon performance, UCF being a case in point. UCF is being assessed like all other teams. Their very weak schedule hurts their resume. You changed your mind in an instant. A short time ago you were advocating that the selection process should be performance based, rather than on SOS. UCF is #5 according to the performance based F/+ rankings. In any event, as a mythical championship, it really doesn’t matter that the CFP is a farce.

UCF is being evalAuted on their ytd performance (and by this I mean all-in performance / resume, not what you want it to mean) like all of the other teams, which includes SOS. UCFs schedule of sugary sweet cupcakes makes the MOV stats look really good, but all you get is the sizzle and not the steak.
