Based on this weeks results using the Massey composite Here is my top ll
LSU has the better wins but all 4 top 25 wins were tight games. The Buckeyes dominance in all games gives the edge to OSU
1 Ohio St W vs 14 (Wiscy) and 17 (Cinti) 2 LSU W vs 6 (Bama) 9 (Auburn) 13 (Florida) 23 (Texas)
Clemson has had one almost slip up but has put up impressive numbers since. That is the primary reason for Clemosn at 3. Minnesota was shaky at the start of the season but got the W's. The past 4 weeks they have been very impressive and continue to improve. The Win against PSU was no flude
3 Clemson (None) 4 Minnesota W vs 4 (PSU)
Although BAM has no top 25 wins they have won convincing in most of those games. The loss against LSU had a lot to do with mental mistakes early on. PSU has the better wins by far but that will take a hit in the upcoming weeks
5 PSU L vs 8 (MN) W vs 15(ttun) W 20 (Iowa) 6 Bama L vs 2 (LSU)
Baylor has had a lot of close calls but still has a 0 in the most important column. A win over OU jumps them over the 1 loss teams
7 Baylor W vs 23 Texas W vs 24 (KSU)
UGA has the worst loss by a long shot but still has the best wins by far over the remaining 1 loss teams. Utah has very little going in theri favor resume wise
8 UGA L vs 60 (SCar) W 13 (FL) W 21 (ND) 9 Oregon L vs 9 (Auburn) 10 Oklahoma L vs 24 (KSU) W 23 (Texas)
11 Utah L vs 30 (USC)

Indiana is now ranked #24 but it doesn't matter because they suck . OSU beat the three ranked teams by a combined score of 132-17. If my memory is correct, Ohio State has allowed 2 first half TD's all year and only 25 points in 9 games. They've shut out 5 opponents in the first half.

Indiana is now ranked #24 but it doesn't matter because they suck Indiana was actually playing pretty well this year and had a great start to the season. Sadly, their hot shot QB was injured. Without him, they're really not good. ANOTHER example of: Where they were ranked AT THE TIME you played them, matters MORE than where they're ranked at the end of the year. It can go both ways. The DETAILS matter.

The DETAILS matter. Actually the back-up, Peyton Ramsey, has done pretty well - he was the starter the previous 2 years. I kind of follow him as he's from Cincinnati and his dad was his HS coach. His dad was in a class I taught at work on fundraising...nice guy. When Ohio State played Indiana the Ramsey didn't play and they were a bit out of sorts but they've played well recently. They play Penn State and Michigan the next 2 weeks so if they're still ranked after that, they'll be having one of the best seasons in Hoosier history. I suspect they'll wind up 8-4 but the home game against Michigan could be a signature win for them. I don't think they can go to Happy Valley and win.

Interesting order of the teams Ohio State, LSU, and Clemson are the 3 That is all It is pretty clear that Clemson is #3 and debatable on 1 and 2. 4 can go many different directions based on what they deem to be important. My guess is that the CFP points to the eye test and give us the following ranking 1 LSU 2 OSU 3 Clemson 4 Bama 5 UGA 6 Oregon 7 Minnesota 8 PSU
9 Baylor 10 Utah 11 OU

Looks about right. I'll be interested to see how high Minnesota jumps this week. #17 was ridiculously low. I could see them possibly jumping as high as 6th.. ahead of Oregon. I doubt they get ahead of Bama, or probably UGA.
I would actually put them at #5, if it were me. My "eye" says Bama is better... and, right now, the resumes aren't complete. So, the "eye test" means a bit more to me. The Gophers were impressive, at home.
I just checked... CJ's system now has Minny at #4, and Penn State is still #5. That's a surprise. Bama dropped to #12.

UGA should not be anywhere near the top 4.

Soooooooo opinion driven and mythical-- 10000000% mythical, and we've fallen for it for 150 years. It's fun to guess and speculate, rank and rate etc.
I'd prefer playing and eliminating in a post season competition to really find out.

It's fun to guess and speculate, rank and rate etc. I'd prefer playing and eliminating in a post season competition to really find out. It has turned into a completely opinion driven system based on current perceptions and that is a huge problem. Where do they get these perceptions from??? I read the state rules regarding the criteria in the selection process and there was no mention of the eye test. Now they seem to value the eye test well above the resumes. It's a ridiculous system but it is what we have.
No way that UGA should be ahead of PSU. Here is the resume per current massey composite.
PSU Wins vs #15 and #20 and a loss to #7 UGA Wins vs #13 and #17 and a loss to #60 MIN Wins vs #4 BAMA Loss vs #2 no top 25 wins
I bet top dollar that UGA is ahead of PSU and Minnesota. Bama will also be ahead of both and they don't any wins over a top 25 team.

Here's how I think things will look at around midnight on December 7, 2020...
Clemson will be 13-0 The Big Ten champ will be 13-0 or 12-1 The Big 12 champ will be 12-1 The Pac 12 champ will be 12-1 SEC champ will be 13-0 or 12-1
Depending upon the SEC champ, there will be one or 2 other SEC teams with 12-1 or 11-1 records.
The conferences better rev up the hype machines because there is going to be a ton of lobbying going on in those final days and minutes.

Media: “Clemson is struggling and not blowing people out. Not playoff worthy”
Also Media: “Clemson is unprofessional and running up the score. Ridiculous.”
More lazy sports journalism.

ESPN always throws out the "eye test" Gee I wonder where the MCFP Chairman heard that one considering he used it to justify his picks.

It's BS - it's not Clemson's job to keep their team from scoring. When a player goes into the game he should go into the game to compete. I don't think you throw flea flickers and crap like that but they should try to move the ball down the field. If the opposition can't keep the subs from scoring that's their problem.
OSU ran an onside kick had 14-0 to perfection. They also called time outs at 42-0 at the end of the first half to go for a punt block. People said they were rubbing it in. A 14-0 on-side kick is not rubbing it in. They nearly blocked the punt and then took a knee. The starters didn't play in the second half.

Exactly...the 2nd and 3rd stringers have no obligation to go 3 and out while they are in the game. They practice just like the 1st strong does....everyday.
