A snowflake's chance in hell. That might be the case if the final four was merit based, i.e., how each team performs relative to its performance. But, in the CFP, MOV is ruled out and SOS is over-emphasized. That effectively makes it impossible for any non-P5 conference team to qualify.
Not even sure what that means...
The explanation was in the following paragraph...

A championship sport's semi-finalists should be determined by what the scoreboards at the quarter-final sites say....no committee, no opinions, no voting..no bias, no beauty contests, no bullshit.

YOUR opinion Hen. It's NOT the ONLY way. In a sport where 120+ teams play only 12 games... ? It CAN be acceptable to do something different. Especially, in a sport that survived, THRIVED for 100 years with NO semblance of any playoff. NONE. zip.... From that history, having the selected FOUR best teams play on the field is just fine... for all the teams involved.

Michigan fan here... I really don't understand the love for PSU both in national preseason polls, which tend to put them in that #5-6 range, and various message boards. The PSU got throttled by Michigan last year 49-10, and it wasn't even that close. They were thoroughly dominated. They are also coached by Field Goal Franklin, the guy who elected to kick a field goal down 28-0 before the half in that game. Before Michigan they lost to Pitt. After Michigan, they struggled against a number of teams before lucking into a win against OSU and a Big Ten championship in a game OSU wins 19 times out of 20. Yeah, they played USC well in their bowl game, but still lost. I know last year is last year, but people seem to think they were some dominating team. The hype is unreal. And yes they return Barkley who is a phenomenal player, but reversion to the mean (and loss of top receiver) suggests that McSorley's arm punts don't connect as much this year. I predict PSU ends the season in the #20-25 range, which is about right. But nowhere near the CFP.

This great sport would have even been greater with a 100 year history of actual on field championship playoff history, imo

I agree with you. PSU lost some key players. I doubt they do as well this year.

Voting teams into the playoffs will always be stupid. lol Good point. The 4 team playoff would be a LOT better if they used your system to pick the teams.
