Hmmmmm, I thought Clemson was playing Ohio State firstš.... sorry man, I don't have a good feeling about Ohio State....I don't think they've had enough time to gel as a team.
I think Sermon must have an incredible game to beat Clemson, and they have to punch Clemson in the face and be physical with them.
The best way to beat Clemson is keeping TLawrence off the field....
If Clemson bottles Sermon and establishes a commanding lead, it's over
Keep in mind OSU played without 23 and 22 players the last couple games. They were down 2 defensive ends and a starting LB against Northwestern. Having Olave out really hurt, too. He'll be back for the Sugar Bowl. Fields had no rhythm on Saturday which is concerning - they said he may have sprained his thumb but i haven't heard confirmation on that. I've been waiting for almost 2 seasons for OSU to do something offensively that I feel would open things up considerably but it hasn't happened. Now would be the time to do it. On second thought, maybe OSU should just give their spot to Texas A+M or UC since no one thinks they have a shot.

I'd like to see all conferences get a chance but right now all we have is a four team playoff and it's the committee's job to pick the best 4 teams. I went through the coaches poll this morning - they listed every coaches ballot - and the consensus with their vote was that committee got it right. (OSU was top 4 in all but 6 polls with 3 Being Saban, Jimbo and Dabo - Dabo had OSU at #11.) There will always be disagreement with the final spot - if it's not being #4 then it will be #8 - that's the nature of the beast. In the NCAA basketball tournament they bitch about who was not ranked #68.
It only matters this year. Next season when teams play OOC games I suspect teams there won't be nearly as many undefeated teams.

Everyone gushes about the Army/Navy game - they talk about the kids in that game and the commitment they've made to our country. And then, they can't even find a team willing to play them in a bowl. What a bunch of cowards. Now all they can do is hope another team bails out due to COVID which could clear a spot for them....and they'll be ready at a day's notice.
After Monken broke the bowl news, Army's seniors met and agreed to remain on campus and continue practicing until Thursday morning, in case another participating bowl team cannot play because of COVID-19 tests or other reasons. If Army can't find a bowl spot, players will be dismissed to return home for the first time since May. But if a bowl spot opens up, Army will be ready. Athletic director Mike Buddie issued a statement Sunday saying the academy would "continue to fight to get them that opportunity."
Monken said the team would need only a day to arrange travel and reach the bowl site. He noted the team's season-long motto: Don't plan. Prepare.
"If we got a Dec. 31 bowl game, if you call us on the 29th, we'll have those guys flying there on the 30th," Monken said. "What I'm hoping is some of these bowl games, when they hear enough of this about Army, they're going to say, 'You know what? If somebody cancels, we're going to take Army. We're going to be the knight in shining armor and we're going to look like a hero taking this team.'
"They'll be the hero."

The committee held ālack of gamesā against Cinncy, but not Ohio State. The committee held Coastalās top 20 wins against it, but not Iowa States top 20 wins. The BCS was a much better way but folks screamed bloody murder because it wasnāt PERFECT.Ā Now we have the smallest poll ever(the committee) in which bias is magnified. Donāt worry Hero - youāll pound ND, but not as bad as you would have pounded Cincinnati.

As much as Iād like to see it, Iām not sure even Venablea can scheme to cover Waddle, Smith and also stop Harris. Extremely tall order for any defense to hold that offense in check for 60 minutes. I thoroughly enjoyed the beat down of ND, as I am sure most did. Hmmmmm, I thought Clemson was playing Ohio State firstš....

Ā counted on 12/18/2020 ( source - NFL.com)
top ten producers """"""""""""""""""""""""
50 - Alabama 41 - Ohio State 38 - LSU 32 - Miami 32 - Florida 30 - Georgia 29- Notre Dame 29- Iowa 29 - Penn State 28 - Clemson
... and most QBs
""""""""""""""""""""""""
4 - NC State ( 4.5 if partially counting Russell Wilson ) 3 - Missouri 3 - Oklahoma 2 - ten assorted teams
I wouldnāt count Ryan Finley as an NFL quarterback - drop NC State back to 3.5....

Can Ohio State beat Clemson??? I remember asking the same thing last year They certainly could have beaten them last year - the reversal on the catch/fumble/TD was a horrible call that drastically changed momentum. I know CPA doesnāt agree but I can post a video of replay officials who are on my side. This year? I donāt know - not the way they played yesterday. Hopefully they get back to full strength the next couple weeks and weāll see.

I feel lucky that my team was able to play 6 games and hopefully get 2 more. Obviously this didnāt appear to be the case back in early September. Iām 62 years old and who knows how many more seasons Iāll get to enjoy but each year that passes becomes one less, thatās for sure. Just enjoy it for what it is. This season has been a cluster - no doubt - but I have to applaud the coaches and players who were able to pull it out. I canāt imagine all the pivots and detours teams have had to make this season. The past 2 games Ohio State played 23 and 22 players down. They played without 4 coaches at MSU (including the head coach) and 3 coaches yesterday. The kids have pretty much had to isolate since August to play football. They wonāt get Christmas, they sacrificed a ton for our enjoyment. Take it for what itās worth but Iām just thankful the stuck it out because some teams packed it in.

Iām sure Hero would love to see Cincinnati in that 4th spot. Trust me, unless you want some free time on New Years Day after Bama runs out to a 38-0 first half lead, you may think you want Cincinnati in that game but you donāt. A bunch of hard playing 3 and 2 star recruits would get destroyed in the playoff. Heāll, Notre Dame will get destroyed. Only teams that can score a ton of points can compete with Bama - IC scored 24 at home against Tulsa. Quit wishing for something youāll turn off after 20 minutes. I live here and watch most of their games - they arenāt on the same level.

I would say , doc, that as long as humans are involved plus the TV revenue factor you'll get this terribly unfair manipulation. But you didnāt answer my question - I agree with you about money and manipulation but who would you pick if Coastal or Cincinnati were to play any of the top five teams on a neutral field.

As long as humans are involved the standings are easily manipulated to provide credibility to their opinions. Having said that, the top 4 or 5 are pretty easy. After that, does it matter? Yes to the committee because they want the rankings to support their opinion of the top 4 teams. But let me ask this, if Coastal or Cincinnati played any of the top 5 teams on a neutral field who would you pick?

I was going to ask for Coastal Carolina and Cincinnati's star ratings but realized this says P5 teams. Congrats to Northwestern getting it done with those numbers - I don't think they're going to get it done on Saturday but I also expect them to hang in the game until mid 3rd quarter.

Not that anything I taught him in the 4th grade put him in this position but this kid played for my 6th grade team when he was in the 4th grade because he was so big - he couldn't make the 4th and 5th grade weight limit. Despite being 2 years younger, he was a beast. Comes from a military family, both parents had careers in the US Army (as well as a couple of his siblings). He didn't get an offer to Ohio State but was offered at some other major schools - I think UK was attractive because it's not far from Cincinnati so his mom can see him play. His dad passed away a few years ago very suddenly - he was a great guy, always smiling and supportive of the kids. Anyway, here's a link - wishing Paul a great career at UK! www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/high-school/high-school-sports/2020/12/16/mason-senior-paul-rodriguez-signs-uk-and-its-successful-line/3909363001/

Missed it but Lamar Jackson sealed a win for my fantasy football team with close to 40 points - I had 2 players that beat the entire team I was playing against, Jackson had 38 points and Derrick Henry scored 40.2, my opponent had 75.66. I was down a point going into last night.
